KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital
Since May 1978, KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital (KPJ Ipoh), formerly known as Ipoh Specialist Centre, has been a prominent healthcare provider in Perak, and has now become a one-stop centre and multi-disciplinary tertiary care hospital delivering a comprehensive range of healthcare services to the local community. In 1989, the acquisition by Johor Corporation led the hospital to flourish to greater heights and is now equipped with 235 beds and over 150 Consultants. As a pioneer hospital providing specialised Cardiothoracic Service, KPJ Ipoh has provided greater access and efficiency to patients within the community from the hassle of travelling long distances to Kuala Lumpur or Penang for cardiothoracic surgery. KPJ Ipoh is also one of the first private hospitals in Malaysia to provide Neurosurgery, Oncology, and Cardiac catheterisation. The hospital has earned recognition for its commitment to quality and safety, being the first in Malaysia to be successfully certified by OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment) and the first in Perak to obtain the full certification from the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH). KPJ Ipoh is also the pioneering KPJ Specialist Hospitals to receive the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) status and successfully launch the Baby Hatch.
